I think Fred is better qualified to answer that question.
Need more info like  moisture reading, type of install, sounding test, etc.
I think you need to find pitas best as possible the problem. Then work on a solution. Most of these type situation are
The result I think of bad specification of materials.
So while I think that sealers and or consolidater”s can and should be used in the right situations I don’t think they are cute all for everything.

I will say we had a limited time to refinish a very porous crosscut limestone and we applied Faber at every opportunity, ahead of out working areas before we cut and during a 40 minute break after 400 grit and I was amazed of the polish we were able to achieve. Good stuff!

Considering a solution. Stu do you think a 24 grit diamond brush will cut through the polished cap?   I made a 17” drive plate with three Frankfurt stone holders on a half inch steel plate, maybe 25-30 lbs. and I can add weight plates to the machine. Thinking if I brushed it real hard and removed all the cap and soft material then densified it at 80, 120, 220, then it may work.

Hey Tim
It’s an interesting product.
Check out the link I put up on this thread.
Scroll down and read the tech sheet.
We like it a lot and makes sense when working on shitty porous soft limestone .
It will also save you some tooling as it apparently makes the concrete harder.
Dry treat and prosoco make great products but they are expensive. The faber is like $106 for 5 litre’s.

We generally apply it to rejection after 120 or 220 grit.
It???s not like a concrete densifier that needs to be cutoff with 220 g

Dry treat have a new consolidator product which is called S-rec, it's better than the 40sk used for this sort of issue with soft stone, it works very well indeed. Look it up, we carry this product all the time for this sort of issue.
