Hi John

I just rehoned the statue last week , it was a blast!  I really enjoyed it, middle of the busiest corner of Montreal.   How did they remove the purple once it appeared, I have the product I will try it tomorrow.  I tried that one time what they recommended on the tube but it stayed anyways

Anthony,

The product will turn purple as it works, I have never heard of anyone having problems removing the purple after the removed the product. What concerns me with using Iron Out is that it is an acid and will etch the stone and this could be a challenge re- honing the stone to achieve the same finish.

Hi John

The only thing I dislike about this product, is that once when I used it, it all turned purple on me and there was no way to remove it.  I am a little uncomfortable to use it as I cannot take that risk on this statue.

Anthony,

I would attempt using the RSR 2000 from Alpha.  This will give you immediate results , you may need to apply several times  remove the stain. It appears to be an iron stain. I recommend staying away from iron out . this will etch the stone and you don’t need to try honing this one.

Be careful if the iron is in the stone you could actually darken the stain and have even a bigger problem. The more iron content in the stone the bigger chance you will have in darken the stain. Be careful and only test a small area prior to taking on the entire job.

I recently restored a white marble statue.  I still need to remove the discoloration at the lower part of the statue.  I have tried to do a poultice test but because it is in the middle of a public area, every time I do a test, some curious passerby ends up removing it or it gets rained out.  I need to make sure I am using the right product, I will then proceed to do the poultice and barricade the whole statue by making a plywood box covering the entire statue.  But I really only have one chance to do so.

What product do you think I should use?

Is there a product I could spray on without poulticing .
