Paul,
Regarding the slate floor question,
1.
what is currently on the slate?
2.
Is there a coating on the slate?
3.
Is the slate un sealed?
4.
Is the slate smooth is it a clef ?
If the he slate is smooth or
clef I would first clean the slate with a alkaline based cleaner then use a neutral
cleaner then apply the StoneCare Central Color Enhancing Seal.
This seal is an impregnating based
sealer and should not reduce nor improve the slip resistance on the
slate.
If you and the customer wants
you to use honing powders and hone the slate to a 120 or 220 the coarse grit
will open the stone and improve the slip resistance. However doing this
will change the cleaning cycle and the slate will collect the dirt much
faster and will need professional cleaning on a regular cycle. ( Maintenance
opportunity !!!)
Proper cleaning and testing
would help eliminate the slip and fall issues and if someone would slip and
fall and the customer has a record of regular cleaning process along with slip
testing results would be a big benefit to the customer.
Do you have a Slip tester?? If
not I encourage everyone to purchase on it’s a great tool when selling
that on commercial job you will complete a safety / slip test of the floors you
have worked on. If the property is on a maintenance contract offer the slip
test a an added feature of your services.
if you need information on slip tester ,please advise
