Roger,
When customers start talking about slip issues on stone
surfaces, I usually ask these questions.
1.
Why do you think you floor is slippery?
2.
How often do you dust mop the floors?
3.
How often do you damp mop the floors?
4.
What type of cleaners are you using ?
5.
Are you doing any construction in the building?
Once you get these answers then you can start talking about the
slip issues on the floor and what may be causing the problem and how to
test for slip resistance ( provided you have a slip tester)
What many people don’t understand is that sliding you foot
across the floor is not a testing method for slip.
Things such as improper dust mopping, improper damp mopping, use
of the improper cleaner and if the stone is polished, the polishing practices.
If a building has construction going on in out ( tenant build
outs) the dry wall dust can find it way from the top of the building to the lobby
very easy and can cause a slip issue.
In the past once I’ve interview the customer and made recommendations,
the slip issue goes away. I do agree with Fred that every commercial building
needs some type of slip program..
I have sold maintenance programs based upon the customers concern
about slip and fall.

Roger
there are several options
1. Use one of the many anti slip products
2. Hone it
3. Apply a coating
4. Dont walk on it.
remember slip resistance takes
two surfaces to slip...the stone and what someone is wearing. Also it depends
on someones gate, etc. Your best defense against slip fall lawsuits is to
have a slip fall program. I have written one and will soon be publishing
it
