My take on that, is that you should play around with Photoshop,
for fun. And at the price they are offering it to us , it’s a great deal
just to have fun. But to go ahead and make your own pamphlets etc. I don’t
think it’s wise.
My feel is you should work ON your business and not IN your
business.
That being said, we can’t polish marble 24 hrs a day so I’m
guessing you come home and we don’t always feel like working on “our
next move” and we want to create a pamphlet
You always shoot as big as you can with low cost digital cards
now , it’s tragic Mike what happened to you
Better yet show in RAW, you need a little more playing for this
but here you really have the maximum flexibility. I make huge 6 foot
images of my work , so for me it’s been important.
The last thing, buy an external hard drive. At the prices today
you should have TWO external hard drives, the first one 500 gig or more (about
100$ each) you use for all your data and pics storage, this way you will keep
your comp lean and mean. Keep on your comp only what client files you maybe
working on
The second is the automatic backup.
I have lost my pics 3x
We are talking from the early 90’s all my debut jobs
In 2000, no I was not victim of that, whatever it was called in
2000, ykk or something, and I lost half of my files when my new secretary a few
years ago played clean up and deleted what she thought was unimportant .
Mike , I would ask Debbie to help you with the pamphlets, she is
a wiz with the net I’m certain she can take care of it or find you
someone. If that’s not possible, I will find you someone here from
my BNI group.
With today’s technology, my connection could be in Thailand
and you would still get your pamphlet done the next day.

I have been trying to get my brochures complete and
just hit ANOTHER snag which was due to the Photoshoping of some images. I told
my graphic designer there would be a problem and he did not agree,
unfortunately the print shop did… The problem is that If you take
an image and increase the DPI you are still working with a finite amount of
pixels. Increasing the dpi size X 4 will at the same time decrease the pixel
quality X 4. So it becomes moot. Therefore it is VERY important to shoot the
photos in High Res if you ever want to use these for print. I never knew
this and always shot in a small file size for computer storage and web, now I
am screwed as all my best photos, almost all of my HUGE file are not acceptable
for print. Trying to make these brochures has been a real headache…

Subject: [sccpartners] PHOTOSHOP
Hi All,
We have an opportunity to purchase a number
of full version Photoshop CS4 (latest version) for an incredible price.
However, we need a minimum commitment from our Partners before we agree to it.
Photoshop is the professional program used
to edit photos. You can resize, change dpi, crop, do amazing creative things if
you're so inclined, combine photos, add your logo or text to photos, and so
much more. It's what we use and graphic design studios, printers, etc. use.
(This is the program you want to use to resize things like your logo without
losing quality...)
The program retails for $699.00. The
student version sells for $299.00. We found some on EBay for around $200.00 but
you take risks. These are unopened full versions. Our cost for each
is $180. (These are PC versions).
We have a limited number of them, so please
CALL (877) 715.5313 option 1 if you want to commit
to one.
As soon as we have the minimum number of
commitments, we'll buy the lot and ship 'em out.
Please do not REPLY, but rather CALL.
