Are they individual tiles or is it a floor that you did?If all you have tried so far is water then here are a few other options.
Alkaline cleaner,scrub with a brush rinse and extract.
Baby oil,I know this sounds weird but I got this from Maurizio.
You can also try color enhancer sealer on a spot and see if it darkens/blends it.

If those don't work you can email or call me and I will give you some other options.

I am looking for a product that will remove a white residue from the stone being honed. I have attached a picture
of one of the tiles. i have washed some off with water but it still leaves some within the grout
