I would try honing if mb-12 and strippers would not work, I would do a 200g dry diamond then a 400 and mb-12 should be perfect.As far as the sandpaper goes be cautious it is very easy to cause dimples and dips with sandpaper, in a shower you most likely would not see it but when it comes to floors be cautious, diamonds are always a better choice for honing than sandpaper.
