What ever you do it would be short term fix, and the problem will come back. Wrong stone in wrong place. To fix it temporally use Hard water an soap scum remover. spray let it sit then hone it with 230 grit brush, rinse it let it dry and color enhancer. will look good for some time.

What would be good to use for a test on the coating? Thanks.

Possibly, a previous coating is failing. If so, as you probabbly know, it
needs to be stripped, rinsed, neutralized and then sealed with an
appropriate brand that will stand up to that type of use. However, this is
only a guess unless you see it in person. Good luck.
