Be very cautious with the promises you make in restoring these stairs. White Carrera is probably one of the worst choices of marble for this location because of its vulnerability to "stunned crystals" caused by pin pointed impact. These stunned crystals can look like a scratch but can go far below the surface of the marble making removal impossible with exception to routing out the damage and filling with a matching epoxy.

It's expensive but with the price you charge for this job, it will pay for itself immediately.
