I would explain to your customer that due to the installation of
these stones, the installer should have made sure there was adequate slop on
the stone so they would drain properly. There is very little than can now be
done after the installation to correct the problem without tearing out the
stone and re- installing.
The best you can offer is a cleaning process where the customer can
clean the surface with a bleach and water solution up to a 50/50 mix then scrub
and rinse. Then seal every year.

We never had any intentions to
get into that. I needed to give them some good verb-age to explain what
needs to happen, that we don't offer that service and to show that it is not
our responsibility. I wouldn't even offer a suggestion of a
step-by-step procedure but I wanted enough info to arm myself. This is
not a service we offer but to know certain key words to say to let them know
that this is a pre-existing issue and that they need to contact a different
contractor for this.

I'm not sure who the original installer is. Long story short...client is using
anything and everything to avoid paying their invoice. I needed to explain how
this was not caused by us but their options to correct this should be ... by
hiring another contractor and paying us for the work we completed.

2. You have already performed more services than you contract called for.
3. Did you contract state that you would stop the mold and efflorescence??
4. there is no way to stop this from happening in the future, the comments

We have a customer with exterior flagstone. In one area water tends
to gather and puddle causing lots of efflorescence and molds to grow
as it is also under lots of mature trees where the sun will not see it
much. It looks as if the builder graded the yard in such a way that
all the rain water and sprinkler water gathers in that same spot on
the flagstone. Do you have any thoughts or recommendations that might
help get the water to another location?
