Don:
We
have recently introduced a new product to the market place called SAFER (Slip And
Fall Event Reducer), which is a slip prevention product. Of the two types
of slip-prevention products (topical vs chemical) this is a chemical one.
Most of these products will SLIGHTLY change the appearance of the tile. We
have treated many floors with our product and the changes is very
minimal. I always recommend doing a sample and having the customer
sign-off. The product is no more dangerous than aggressive tile &
grout cleaners. I wouldn’t call the effect “damage”,
but instead a treatment that increases coefficient of friction. Good
luck.

I have seen some products
that are supposed to create a high coefficient of friction on tiles, which
reduces the chances of slips and falls. They do this by dissolving small
amounts of silica on the surface.
Are they safe to use?
Will they create long term damage?
