as you are aware there are hundreds of types of limestone, so I would need to know what type it is first. Secondly I would need to know how it is installed which will affect its performance, etc.
but to answer your questions as far as finish, I am not aware of any standards for a prefered finish on any stone.
I would suggest if your client is unhappy that he have an independent stone consultant come in and do an evaluation.

Friends,
I have a very important client who recently had several thousand square
feet of stone installed around his home. My/His question: "is there a
STANDARD for or a prefered finish for limestone that has been installed
around a swimming pool?" What grit should the stone be honed too. The
installers had a few problems and did some grinding.....I don't know what
was used or what qualifications they have for doing the grinding, but my
client is not happy. Any information that can be forwarded would be
appreciated.
Happy New year to you all. American Stone Care, Inc. wishes you all a
healthy and profitable 2010!
