Dr. Fred:

I pulled the caulk around the base and have had a fan going for 48 hours to little if no effect. This is a large walk-in steam shower, 5' by 5', limestone slab on two sides, glass on the other two. There is also discoloring on the 3" base where the glass sits. They have other showers, 4 in fact as this house is 6000 sq. ft. After reading a number of articles, is it possible that due to caulk being open so long that the limestone could be permanently discolored? thanks

Try applying a dry poultice..If this shower has been wet for very long it may have way too much water laying in the pan. I would place some fans in the shower and get the air circulating. Can they not use the shower for a while or is this the main shower.

Hi all:

Limestone shower floor, had very poor caulk lines which led to moisture stain on wall. Drying it out but the floor has staining also, see pic. Went down to 50 grit metal which convinced me there is nothing on surface. Water damage or should I continue trying a poultice. Thanks in advance.
