Barry,

The white marks are probably scratches and will need to be diamond hones out. I cannot open the pictures you sent so I giving you instruction based upon your comments.

The 400 honing powders are probably not low enough grit to remove the damage. Depending upon the depth of the scratch you could have stun damage and that may never come out. As you recall in training we discussed the scratch patterns and how to choose the right diamond to start with. I would use a diamond on my hand machine and feather out the honed. When you get the scratch out then you may want to use a honing powder to blend the area you worked on with the remainder of the floor.

The dark area in the limestone may be just moisture that is in the stone and need to dry out.

Caution , if this is a pores limestone when you hone it the stone could darken form the moisture you put into the stone in the honing process. Dry the floor a soon as possible using a fan. This would help eliminate the darken of the stone.

If you can please send you pictures in another format.

Howdy Partners !

I have a customer with a newly installed limestone and marble floor.  the floor is honed and in one specific area ( about 5-8 tiles) there are white marks on the gray limestome that seem to have penetrated the honed surface.  the tile guy had them try to remove a mark with vinegar ) ouch!!!) and that left a semi dark ring around the white mark.  i was thinking of trying some 400 and/ or 800 honing powder to remove the white marks, but i fear that the honed tiles won't match the rest of the limestone tiles.  a funny thing is that the surrounding marble tiles do not show etching.

any ideas???  photos attached
