check out a product called eap it is very expensive it is a coating system but it can be polished to high shine or to a honed finish we use it on concrete countertops and marble tops where someone wants a semi permanant topical coating put down, they use it under a different name to put on the underside of big boats we charge alot to apply it it is a nano topical coating it is sold by surfaces 519 i believe it is awesome stuff but pricey they have alot of experience appling it to all sorts of materials its really hard to scractch after it cures and it is almost impossible to get off once it is on.
The product I was referring to is the sheet material that is applied over the stone, the company is located in Vegas and is call Tuff Skin. The problem with this material is it does take away some of the beauty of the stone. this product was made more for hotels vanity tops and bar tops.

Subject: [sccpartners] Stone protection from etching
Do any of you know of any treatment, sealer, coating etc that can prevent marble from etching or at least minimize the etching? Will crystalization help?
I know that is hard to prevent the chemical reaction from damaging the stone but I remember that John mentioned some new product developed for restaurant or hotel industry that supposed to minimize the etching.
I have a customer that supplier sold her quartzite material (ivory bamboo) for a kitchen countertop. it turned that it is a marble, a very sensitive marble. The only way I can get good finish with out burning this stone is to hone to 1500 and polish with Stone Tech 3000 powder. It is job security for me (already 2 trips within 2 months) but I am growing tired of listening of the same story again and again. The supplier doesn't want to do anything and customer is stuck with 24'x6' beautiful slab that etches like crazy.
Any ideas?
