Mike,
This is pretty heavy deposits. I
would use Prosco Masonry Cleaner, this is an acid base material that will
remove this. Even with the use of the Masonry Cleaner you may need to do some
scraping

Hi Guys, any ideas for a mechanical way to get rid of
this? It looks like silica… There are also a lot of areas where it
is in the grout and weeping down stair risers. Last resort will be hand
scraping.
