Steve. Seen this. You are right. The tape pulls out some of the stone
and it looks like an etch, needs grinding.

Installer covered
limestone with tyvek and taped it to the stone. the tape left marks on
the stone. so far no solvents or stripers have had any effect. the
strange thing is some of the tape marks are dark and some are light. When wet
the tape marks act like sealer and do not soak dark but the surrounding stone
does, some areas look etched (I think the tape pulled some grain off the
stone) and others are shinier than the stone finish. What's going on
here?
