From the picture it looks like the slate has one of two thing going on. 1 this could be efflorescent coming up through the grout line seeing from the pictures most of the problems seem to be around the grout. 2 the floor still has a grout film on it. You need to look at this job first hand. Take some chemicals that will remove the efflorescent or the grout film. If this does not work then perhaps you may need to do some other work on this materials. >From the pictures it does not look like a bad hone from the supplier.

I have not gone to see this in person, but we were sent these pictures of Kota Green honed India Slate that they said was installed this way.  That the factory poorly finished some tiles and were accidentally installed. They now want us to re-hone and finish the floor.  Any thoughts, has anyone done anything like this before?
