Barry,
Try to remove it by using an alkaline based stripper. Use hot
water if possible and allow the stripper to dwell on the floor for 10 minutes
to start breaking down the rubber type materials. You may need to scrape the
areas where there is a heavy residue on the floor.

Subject: [sccpartners] rubber mat residue on slate floor
Hi folks,
I have a customer who has an indoor slate floor (rough) that has residue
attached to it when the owner removed a rubber mat. she was able to
scrape off the particles of rubber, but it left stains all over the
floor. any suggestions on what to use to remove the stains without
damaging the floor? photos attached. all help is appreciated.
