Georgia,
I would walk away from this job, you are a stone person not a
fiberglass person. if you damage the fiberglass you will need to hire someone
to refinish the fiberglass, I would not use any abrasives on it.
Let the plumber find someone to fix it. You playing with fire!!

what have you tried..you might
want to try a high acid polishing powder..it will work as an abrasive.
