How about “Stone Dude.”
Seriously, as you know, this is a job where, when asked, “so,
what do you do” it usually takes a few sentences rather than a few words.
Usually goes like this: “I restore architectural
stone”, (you see their eyes glaze over) “You know…marble
and limestone floors and countertops…resurfacing, polishing, sealing.
We work on luxury homes and commercial buildings.”
Then, if the blank look continues, “you know how a wood
floor will need to be sanded and re finished every so often? Well it’s
the same with stone.”
Then the inevitable, “is there much of that kind of work
around?”
Anyway, it’s a good conversation starter…

Does anyone have a good job description for a stone polisher or stone
restoration technician?
