Adam,

The easiest way to determine the finishes is to test them while you are on a sales call. I always carry testing kit with me mainly for testing coating that are on surfaces. If you carry a alkaline based stripper  and a paint stripper this will tell you what’s on the surface. Also as we discussed in training a single edge razor blade when scrapped across the floor will remove the acrylic based coating and will kind of roll off the surface. If it’s a urethane based coating it will chip off and usually will have a yellow color to it.

Is there a easy way to I'd sealer type already on the floor? I can recognize sealer from the wax easily but urethane or acrylic based seam to be more difficult.
What chemical should I look in streapers MSDS sheet to have an idea of which sealer will it dissolve?

Adam,

We have used a lot of different strippers and the one that we have found to be the best is Aldon's Premium STripper.

Fred,
Not to change subject but can you recommend a stripper that will remove urethane based sealers?

The sealer is an acrylic base so standard strippers should work on it.

To All Partners,

Does anyone know of a good quality stripper to safely remove a tropicial coating known as Behr 985 wet look sealer ( water base) from a limestone floor with quarter inch sanded grout joints on the exterior pool deck? This sealer needs to be completely removed so I can seal it with an impregnating sealer. If anyone has had any experience with something like this or similiar and have aquired any helpful time saving techniques it will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Mike
