Just noticed that with a planetary head machine (Klindex Hercules) when grinding along a wall it is much more productive, and removes scratches much better, if the rotation is considered.

On the left side of the machine use the “forward” setting, on the right side of the machine use the  “reverse” setting. 

Not sure why it works but it does. Makes a HUGE difference!
