another alternative is to use plexiglass sheets. I take 8 foot sheets and cut them to the desired height.

Roger - I now use the delicate surface tape on all paint and kick boards. Even in high end houses in the Vail ski resort the paint sometimes comes off. I now let the customers that the tape I use may take off some paint and that I do use the delicate tape which is not supposed to pull paint off. Also I sometimes lay the delicate tape down and then regular 3M over that.

Roger,
I had the same situation before and the problem is like others said the painters faulty prep work. In my case I looked on the paint job in other rooms and found the place where I could stick the blue tape and pull the paint off. Then I showed this to the customer and explained that she should call her painter back to fix his lousy work. When she saw the example of the paint coming off in room adjacent to the hallway I was working, she agreed with me. Since then I added disclaimer to my estimate and I mention this again before I start the job.

Subject: [sccpartners] Paint

I finished a job today and when removing the blue painters tape, a lot of paint came off the base boards shoe. In the past sometimes we get a little but not like I seen on this job. Obviously the owners are upset and now are having their painter repaint the shoe. What is the reason for so much paint coming off?
