Nowadays I spray on (thick or thin depending on the stone) then spread in with a microfiber swifter. Most of the time there is no residue. You only want to apply enough to soak completely in. I laugh at some of the recommended techniques, pour it out, let it puddle for 5-10 mins, clean off excess… What a waste of materials. You do have to consider the stone of course… I used to have several 2 gal. buckets and in each I would have a finish string mop, each one would be for a certain sealer which I would write on the bucket with a marker, then re use each time I would use that same sealer. That way you don’t waste a half gallon of sealer saturating the string mop each time you start. The string mop leaves a very even application, and you can go real thin, on dense marble, where you don’t need really that much (or any at all). Minimal if any clean up. You just place the mop head on the floor, then pour out a little sealer onto it to saturate as needed, and spread it in until it seems to be getting dry, then repeat. Super fast and easy to evenly apply. Of course it cannot be done on super rough stones (sandstone) where you would just be spraying anyway…

Subject: RE: [sccpartners] NEW SOLVENT BASED SEALER.
Hi John,
Just ordered a gallon for a 600 sq ft travertine sealing for next week. Was wondering what the coverage rate is for this sealant and also the best way to apply. I typically spray on with a pump up sprayer and then squeegee sealant across the tiles diagonally. Do you recommend a better way?
Thanks,
Baird
