Baird,

Spraying down a sealer is using excess sealer and can get you in trouble if you have any excess material left behind. Depending upon the floor finish and the porosity of the stone determines how I would apply a sea.

However I never spray down a sealer, I usually apply with a soft terry cloth towel on my roller knee pad by hand this allow me to control the sealer. if the stone need an additional application then I do the second application the same way. If the stone I very porous then I will use a wool applicator ,one like they use to wash windows with, however even then is remove the excess sealer  leaving the applicator somewhat wet but not dripping wet.

This also give you a good seal and does not waste any sealer.

Subject: RE: [sccpartners] NEW SOLVENT BASED SEALER.

Hi John,

Just ordered a gallon for a 600 sq ft travertine sealing for next week.  Was wondering what the coverage rate is for this sealant and also the best way to apply.  I typically spray on with a pump up sprayer and then squeegee sealant across the tiles diagonally.  Do you recommend a better way?

Thanks,

Baird
