The etch mark on a granite does not necessary mean the stone has something on it. There are calcium binder in some granite that will allow them to etch.

If you had an etch ring on black granite my experience tells me that there is something on top of the stone. If one does not get it off marking will continue. I would suggest a good 5X of the whote surface which should remove anything that is sitting on the stone. Then powder polish, sealn or Dr. Fred's suggestion

Subject: [sccpartners] Black Granite repair

I am in need of some ideas from the group. I had a small repair job on a granite counter top from what looked to be an etching ring. After the repair the color of the newly polished area is noticeably lighter in color. I tried to color match it by using Stone Tech Enhancer Pro and it got closer but still dose not match.

Dose anyone have any ideas for me other than just redo the entire counter top. My fear is if I try to redo the entire counter top I will have a dark line at the edge of the splash boards.

Any help is welcome

Thanks
