u do not need to worry about tap water when damp mopping.  at that point u are not using enough water to penetrate the sealer.   only us distilled when doing restoration since u will penetrate the seal and be using alot more water.

for one did u let the floor fully dry prior to sealing.   two u will not see these type of stains until the floor dries.  u should not use tap water on limestone.  use distilled/ or purified water to best eliminate this from
hapeming in the future.hard water minerials and iron do not mix well and u will get brown or orange stains
when the react.

I could also test the stain with RSR-2000 and see if I get a reaction.

But why was it not visible prior? Probably because it was so dirty. (Nevermind me, I am just anticipating the conversation with the homeowner)

are the stains red or a brown/orange color.  you probably have an reaction  with hard water and natural iron in the stone,  try scrubbing the stone with iron out and distilled water.  you can get iron out at most hardware stores.

Hello all,

Limestone floor that a month or so ago I cleaned, added some sheen and applied an impregnator to is showing more and more red stains (from what the homeowner tells me). While I was working there I did see about 4 red stains appear in the MBath and a few more at various other places in the hall and LR. I showed her and even tried a poultice with peroxide to no great success. A few days later the red stains diminished.

Now that she is mopping with the Daily Clean she tells me that even more red stains are evident in the MBath. I should have some pics later today or tomorrow, but for right now has anyone seen/heard of this? Is it a mineral in the stone that is reacting with something in the Daily Clean or moisture?

Prior to me polishing the red stains were not noticeable as the floor was completely flat, no sheen whatsoever and heavily soiled.

So any feedback or thoughts prior to pictures?

Respectfully,

J. Palacio
