it has to do with the planetary head action. The three heads are spinning at about 800 rpm while the entire plate is going in the opposite direction. This results in a high hone at lower grits. Faster RPM generally mean higher shine.
Fred, why would the 301 make it too shiny if it is using 200 grit pads?

I got a call from a old customer, who has a limestone counter top and she is wants it to have a flat hone finish.
I did the counter top with a ds-301 intertool at 200 grit diamond pads.
She call back today and said, it is has too much shine in the counter top still.
How can I make it totally flat and no shine at all ?
I need to call in 2 days.
Any one got ideas?
