Have you looked in the mirror lately, this I’m sure would answer the toxin question
Toxins ?? Are you implying that my body is not the temple I've been telling everyone it is ?? We just finished the Thassos job.
Lots of staining on some of the tile that we could not remove. Overall we fooled around with it and got a nice result. 3 showers in 2 days. I really don't want to do this again.

I know some fabricators that hone vanity's and countertops with acids. We had to go and refinish the tops as they were not even.
Not to mention breathing the acid fumes in a somewhat confined space.Use 5"diamonds and honing powders like john said.
I dont think I could tell my customers that we will be using acid to hone your shower stall.
Anyway honing shower stalls mechanically can be a good workout. Sweat out some of those toxins your carrying around!!

I would not recommend using any acid. It difficult to control the flow of the acid and you need to be concerned with acid penetrating in some areas more than others. Use a honing powder and be safe. Using acid can attach other materials in shower or the bathroom.
If you decide to use acid BESURE TO PROPERLY NEUTRALIZE THE STONE !!!

If the tiles have lippage, It could br difficult to get the polish off in the low areas. Consider and test using a mild acidic solution to dull these areas or the whole thing first with the acid then just powder hone. Ive done floors with lippage this way and it's made the process easier and a more consistant finish

Subject: [sccpartners] White Thassos
What's the fastest/best way to remove a polish from a white thassos shower so that I can leave a honed/matte finish ?
I know that if it were a floor, I would try to do it with a 400 grit velocity pad and then use honing powder, but in a shower I am not sure. The reason that I am trying to strategize on this is because I have to do 3 showers in this house and if I can do a great job without killing myself it would be nice.
