I have used aldons products-I think they are standard products not bad not great. While sometimes you may have to use methylene chloride based products to strip certain coatings, why with all the products available to us  do we have to use them in coatings or sealers. That stuff is just plain nasty and can really get you totally wasted. The other thing about aldon , the owner is a genius because he devised a business plan to which he can rely on his data base to answer all his customers questions. They never field one question, it is there policy-they wont use the phone period. I picture that sob sitting on some beach drinking pina colada,s as we struggle thru that damn database for answers. That just pisses me off-probably more so because I could never be that smart and I answer my phone all the time. The other reason I believe his products are more for the DIY folks and not contractors. We need someone to pick up the friggin phone and get the answers we need without having to search thru some pain in the ass database that will never have the answers to our questions anyway. I cant support a company that makes our day any longer than it already is.We need products that give consistent results and dry fast in between coats. If you work with absorbant stones that hold moisture it is always better to work with a water based sealers and topicals that will be more forgiving if you didnt wait long enough for the surface to dry. Solvent based sealers can be less forgiving when it comes to moisture
Just my two cents.

Adam,
I received a bottle of Stone Glamour from Sparks, which seems to be similar to Aldon's Mexiglaze or Penetrating Stone sealer.  it is the same basic basic two part system as Aldon's  The Stone glamour is a base and the internacional finish is a topcoat that can be reapplied down the road.  It seems as though the "liner notes" for Sparks is less extensive but you can get someone on the phone.  Aldon's information is very comprehensive-you need to be a research analyst to get it all in, but they never answer the phone.

We have used the Aldon Mexiglaze and Life-guard combination many times.  We have also used their gel stripper to remove old sealer.  I have generally been happy with it, but it is very temperamental.  It absorbs at different rates on different stones, you have to really shake the bottle to avoid gumminess, and it appears to be very sensitive to moisture and humidity.  We did a Saltillo floor last fall in the middle of a Monsoon and it took many days for it to dry completely.  If you need to add additional coats and the first coat isn't dry you are asking for trouble.  The solution to trouble is to flood with lacquer thinner to even it (if the trouble is all over) or spot "sand areas with a scotch brite pad (pretty easy).  Then you coat with the Lifeguard (polymer). Application is tricky because if you use the wrong kind of applicator or the floor is unusually rough you may get little bubbles that don't go away entirely.  The trick is to move the puddle as opposed to painting it on.  the stuff also really stinks.
Aldon has sealers other than mexiglaze that are less heavy such as same day sealer (water based) porous stone sealer and fine stone sealer in the glossy category.  They also make color enhance and non-color enhancing sealers in a solvent and water based concoction.
Frankly, It s sometimes hard to tell the difference between some of these.  But they will send you little samples for $7 each that you can test with.
they also make a gel stripper that I like.

Sparks is in texas-817-488-6585
glaze and seal-is in california-  949-250-9104
They both have a good selection of products all easy to work with and pretty quick to lay out with good results.
If your surface is porous you will need to sea with an impregnator before using international finish as it is strictly a topical.

Adam,
Call the folks from sparks southwest-great durable sealer is international finish. Seal and Glaze has a water based green laquer. I think aldons mexi -glaze is mc based just plain nasty stuff.

Roval. Contact name is Jerry at 813-988-4910.

Aldon makes you fill out a form online and then they will reply. As far as I know, there is no phone support.

I agree. I have used the Aldon Products but be careful they can be tricky sometimes.

Adam,

I have used both Roval and Aldon products with success. Aldon is generally shipped and Roval more accessible, at least in my area.

Hello Partners,
I am looking for durable, topical, glossy sealer that can be applied to terracotta and quarry tiles. The sealer that I normally use is for stone and is not recommended for man made tiles. The project is in residential kitchen and foyer with color sealed grout lines.
