Fred, would you recommend a consolidant, or is it too late?

several things can cause this type of deterioration
1. acid rain
2. deicing salts
3.sandblasting
4.improper cleaning chemicals
5. pressure washing
6. Just weak limestone that is breaking down due to weathering
