Could it be the grout lines are too tight and causing the grout to crack and dislodge. I think you guys must have very hot days and cool nights causing expansion and contraction of the joints.
When I do proposald on interior marble floors with grout joints under 1/16th of an inch there is allways plenty of grout missing. Doesnt sound like biowash and a soft brush would damage the grout. The tech working the job or the homeowner would notice it that day unless the joints are too thin.
