you can also test for iron staining with some RSR 2000. If it turns purple its iron.

The material almost looks like it etched where some type of cleaner may have run down the walls. Is the discolored areas of the wall consistent or random?  Did you check to see if the stoner was wet or is holding moisture?

Where there any sealers applied to the stone from the pervious company?

 

How deep did they grind? They may not have ground low enough to remove the damage. These are the questions we need to try to answer. Do you have more pictures?? it help ( Note To All Partners ) that more pictures are better. Take pictures close up , different angles Etc. it will help to see the problems better.

I looked a Limestone shower the other day. Certain areas of the shower wall were darker. Another company spent two days sanding the wall and lighten up the darkness and in certain areas cleared up the problem.  This I was told by the new home owner who bought the house with  the walls already stained. I was thinking testing a hydrogen peroxide poultice on the wall. Would appreciate any suggestions. See attached picture.
