If its a small job, I will tell them it will most likely take 3-5 hours and give them a couple of different reasons why it could possibly take 5 hours, because of problems you may have met in the past. Then I give them an hourly rate, so that way if it takes me 3 hours or 5 hours they wont be shocked by any price change.
Hey All, I'm curious about how you all deal with those occasional (for me) jobs where I under estimate the time required to finish a job. Ive never added any charges to invoices for these situations. Some people tell me its not unreasonable at times to charge for extra time. Ive never felt comfortable with the idea. but wondered what you all do. Thanks.Stephen
