Adams has used a product call AX –IT to remove coating and has had great success with it. I would try it the product is made by Betco
If you are using a good alkaline base stripper on this I will bet it is not an acrylic, it is probably a urethane base product.
A note to all partners, before ever pricing a job with coating you all need to check to see what type of coating is on the stone. use a single edge razor blade and scrap the surface if the coating comes off and kind of rolls off the stone and is a whitish color it probably an acrylic, if it chips off and is a yellow color it probably a urethane base coating. And last but not least carry some stripper with you on sales call and test the surface to see if the coating is going to come off. The stripper will break down the acrylic and will also tell you if you need to strip once or twice or even three times.
This will go al long way to know what you are walking into.

I’m working a polished lime stone shower that has a coating on the tiles. Which I believe is acrylic. Anyway worked all day on trying to remove the coating and still did not get it off. Does anyone have a good recommendation for coating remover in a shower? Or possible a recommendation for an acrylic coating for a shower. I have already spent too much time on that job! Thanks, RK |
