If you are going to repair the terrazzo first is the terrazzo cement based or epoxy based? This will determine the base you need to use . then what color are the chips in the terrazzo? What size are the chips ? once this is determine there are several terrazzo suppliers that can supply you with the chips needed. In some cases you can send a piece of the terrazzo to different suppliers and they will match the chip and give you the formula for mixing the base or in some cases pre mix the base. If I recall there is a terrazzo supply company in Chicago that will do that. Once you achieve the correct mixture the fills hole need to be deep enough to hold the fills in properly. In some cases you may need to make the hole deeper. You can also along the edge of the terrazzo take a small chisel and cut into the existing terrazzo to give you hole a jagged edge. This will help hide the fill.
Then mix up you terrazzo and fill the holes you will need to over fill the hole allowing enough material to grind off to expose the chips. This important pert is to make sure you have enough chips on the surface of the patch so when you grind down to the existing floor you have the chips exposed. If it is a cement based terrazzo the fill will need to cure for at least 2 to 3 day prior to grinding if you try to grind too early you will pull out fills.
If you use an epoxy fill you can grind 1 to 2 days after the fill.
Once you grind off if you open and hole in the fill then mix up some of the base material and float this product into the holes using a steel towel, Let this cure for another day then finish you honing process and your done.
If you are using a cement base I would recommend using a latex additive in place of some of the water when mixing up the cement.
Another way to fill would be to use a polyester fill match the base color and then add the chips let cure grind off. Even with this method you must over fill the hole by 1/8 to 1/ 4 of an inch depending on the size of the chips.
Be sure to charge for the time it will take to fill the holes and the time needed to grind off the excess materials

Hi,
I am looking at a terrazzo polishing job that requires patching some shallow indentations and also filling in holes in the floor that run all the way through. A few of these are in the middle of the floor, but most are along the edge where the original terrazzo floor broke away. My two questions are: 1. What is the procedure for repairing the holes that run straight through the floor (is this something I can do my self? how do I create a base under the hole so that I can fill the hole? etc), and 2. If I want to match the texture/color of the terrazzo, is there a product out there that simulates the original terrazzo (I have heard of someone who can make up a patch formulation if a sample is sent but that is all I have to go on).
