Dr. Fred,

When you say doctored stone is that the same as engineered stone? If not can you explain?

In my inspection services I am seeing many cases of doctored stone.  I have found that any fix for this problem is only temporary. I would suggest she contact the fabricator and demand a new countertop. If not she may opt to take them to court. If she needs my help with expert issues have her contact me.  I would suggest testing it first to confirm it is doctored before she does anything else. This way she has proof that it is doctored.

Customer bought  counter top by mail order and was told it was black granite .

She says it never looked shiny,  Looked dull.

She went to a home show and bought a cleaner not for stone and cleaned the counter top only to lose some of the black color and looks a bit gray and really dull now.

Some young kid  came over and tried to polish the counter top and enhance the stone just in a small spot. See the photos.

Now she is not happy.

I told her that any fix is temporary and I would get back to here for some ideas on how to help her.

She is asking for a re-polish and the black color back and ideas guys?

What to use and where to get it?
