My experience with these tables are there is a reason they are coated. usually junk marble. Once you try to remove the finish then you need to re-apply the coating. Removing the coating is not fun , usually paint stripper will remove the coating then start re-applying. It will take several coats of finish usually a urethane or an epoxy finish.

 

Personally I would walk away from this one in most cases the  customer is not willing to pay the cost to do this work.

Oh  in that case the only solution would be to recoat....or just remove the coating .  Otherwise I wouldnt touch it.
