Option 1

Apply the stripper, let it sit the recommended time and take off most of it using a razor blade.  The redo the process with a polyester pad, blue, green , even black.  Don’t forget to do the joints, it will be 50% of the sale

Option 2

If you can get your hands on small steam machine, you will have your test area clean in no time,

 

Just remember, if the application is quite old, it could be a urethane they have on it.

Not sure what coating you are using but microfiber pads work well with many.
