This is my process:I'm not saying its exactly right but before and after's are amazing.
Depending on depth of existing wear/scratches I start with either 50 (for deep scratches) or 100 (for normal heavy type traffic wear) using hard resin, dry polish discs ,Run Wet .100 grit is the least aggressive ive found for removing 30 years of acrylic topical coating efficiently , run 200 0r 220 then take a hand machine to the walls with 220, then I work the 400 hard, as close to the base as I can get, without hitting it, then I run polish compound to the edge, let dry as required then use solvent based impregnator, lightly dry buff
As far as metal inlays, most are very soft metal like bronze, i have NEVER had a problem with them, except when lippage was left as an exposed edge transition, im in Florida and have done my share of terrazzo, Ill try to attach a before and after with deep scratches, if not email me polishedrock210@aol.com ill send some pics,   good luck!! Hi Guys I went to look at a old apartmaent building that had terrazzo floors (a lot of wax and dirt buildup). They want me to restore the floor. What would the best process be? (What grit would you start and what powders should I use) Will the metal inserts be a problem.
