There I was thinking how I wish I got more calls about Terrazzo and bang we got
a large terrazzo job. ( I may have to wish and think more often).
It wont be done all at one time because there ar many areas from 200 ft to 2000 ft
We are going to start with one of the small entry lobbies its 175 sq ft this will be the
test area and also including the cove base that comes up about 7 inches.
The building is 90 yrs old and so are the floors. I will do the floor while my other two guys work the cove.
The cove looks blackened from old floor finish. Floor does not look as bad. I was thinking
Stripper first, 120 coppers on my cimex diamond finisher 880 rpm 3 head planetary. Then up
Thru the resin grits 50 thru 800 then my marble polish to pop a great shine and then penetrating
Sealer. I was thinking of using 120 grit sandpaper for the cove, should I leave that rough or go to 220 and 400
how do you get flexible enough with a hand grinder polisher to make the rounded transition where the floor and cove meet?
Any of your thoughts on this process would be appreciated. Also would you use solvent or water based sealer
