Looks like a textured limestone to me.  I would powder it using a good degreaser in your water.  about a 220/320 powder with a shower feed brush.  This will do the honing. if it is textured you will change the look if you diamond hone.

Just wanted to get some opinions on this floor I looked at (pics below) I'm thinking it's travertine, but I'm thinking it was not sealed well and the dark spots are skin oil from feet, they are making the floor look dirty. I'm guessing the builder did not seal the floor well, it only two years old, the customer just wants it to look clean, any suggestions?
