the stone looks as if it needs to  honing an then resealed using mineral oils as Fred mentioned.

Didn't know if anyone saw these pictures.  

 

Hi ,

What would cause an onyx green iron soap stone to fade in some wet areas? Could it have been dyed?

Also a small one inch area on the edge, under the faucet is deteriorating. Is it okay to use a stone dye

And epoxy the damaged area.
