What 5X polishing powder are you using?? All 5X polishing powders are not made equal. If you are using grand Quartz or Granite City Tools or in some cases Braxton Braggs polishing powder they will not work as well as the real 5X that is imported from Italy. I agree with Walter that you may need to hone higher .

Gives sorta Ok result but not that impressive- never tried the second thing you mentioned and will look into it
What are the ceramic polish brands?

Customer might be happy with a burnished coating if you know of a procedure

Are you sure it's marble because it doesn't sound like it. You can always try the acid test. If 5X powder doesn't work I would try bringing it up (try 800 grit test area but you may have to go higher) and using white granite polishing powder along with crystallizer. There are also products on the market for polishing ceramic that may work but I would first try the granite polish.
