It does look like it has a urethane coating. You can put more urethane on it or you can try some clear fingernail polish.

Using 5X did nothing to improve the finish or polish out the razor blade marks. . Of course I was using it with a wet cloth wrapped around my finger. Let me know if you don’t agree with my assessment.  Assuming I am correct, what can I apply to the area to give it a high gloss finish? See attached picture.
