my terrazzo installer has been installing cement and epoxy terrazzo for close to 30 years and he has done hundreds of exterior jobs in san francisco area. he said they would do an acid wash, then seal it with crystal seal,which is what most all the terrazzo guys use. According to the specs, its kind of an impregnator sealer. I have used prosoco's natural stone sealer on several jobs, it protects the terrazzo from absorbing the water which is what damages the terrazzo. I havent developed a firm postion yet on what approach i think is absolutely correct. i do know in the midwest, if the terrazzo is not protected the cement matrix will disolve and the chips will be higher than the matrix after a few years. .

Same job with 2k of exterior white cement terrazzo......

Keep this in mind...The terrazzo floor on this job cost the owner $300K. The contractors put acrylic sealer on top everywhere, even outside where it is exposed to the elements. It looked horrible. I still cant believe they would put acrylic outside. Anyways, I have to strip it all off, run a grit or two and densify. Should it be sealed? with an impregnator? My gut says no,  but the client is concerned with potential staining on a white floor. I want the floor to breathe. Any topicals worth looking in to?
