Stu,
Few weeks ago I was working on absolute black granite sign. 16'x6'x1 outside next to the busy road. It looked very rusty but it wasn't rust. I think it was deposits from nearby oak trees, cleaners didn't work so I ended up using pinch of 5x on white pad. It cleaned all in no time. Just a thought

Stuart,

I would recommend contacting Fred Hueston he has several labs he is works with . if the granite is rusting many granites have natural iron deposits in them and over time will oxide. Other time I have seen polished granite take on a rusty look for a contractor that has honed the granite and then tried to crystallize the granite before it totally dried.

Subject: [sccpartners] Testing Stone

I have a customer that wants to have his granite tested. It is on the outside of a building and rusting.

Does anyone know a lab that will test the stone and identify its components.

The stone is a granite that is quarried in Israel.
