Tony,
For the rust you can try a couple of things. If the rust is not too deep into the stone try an acid based cleaner, or you can try RSR 2000 from Alpha. Or you can try Iron Out, this can be purchased at home depot , Lowes or other paint stores. The worse can you may need to apply a poultice. The treatment depends upon how deep the rust has penetrated into the stone.
Once you have removed the rust , be sure to neutralize the surface by rinsing and cleaning with a Neutral cleaner.
Dry the surface then polish the granite using granite polishing powders.
And last but not least be sure to seal the granite.
