If you use the honing powder method make sure you dont let the powder dry in the sanded grout joints. Run a cleaning brush to clean out the grout lines.
You can also use sandpaper to remove the etches and follow with an old thin set of diamonds on 1 or 2 half in spacers.
Then run a coarse fiber pad followed by more thin diamonds up to 1800 for thassos.

Honing powder will remove etching and even scratches as long as you use the right grit, if you have etching then you may need to start with a 250 or perhaps a 120 grit powder. Then work your way through the grits and then polish.
Due to the un even stones diamond would not be recommended nor would I recommend any of the diamond pads .

Hi partners,
The mosaic floor was originally a high gloss finish. The homeowner had somebody come in and hone it so that it had less shine. The marble looks to me like white thassos.
